Baylee Konen
Hello! My name is Baylee Konen and I am a third-year student at the University of Missouri-Columbia studying Journalism and Spanish. I am originally from the Chicagoland area. I love to travel and learn about different societies and cultures in the world. In Summer 2018 I studied in Lima, Peru for three weeks and then went to Cusco, Cuyuni, and Andahuaylillas in the Peruvian Andes Mountains.

After that I stopped in Panama City, Panama for a day and then continued in July to Western Europe: I went solo on my European trip and went to Amsterdam, Netherlands , various cities throughout Italy, and then lastly to Barcelona, Spain. I learned from these trips that humans are….well just humans.
I am taking this course to further my knowledge on other cultures and learn the effects of western customs on traditional societies. I hope to eventually visit the countries I will learn about and be able to aid them in the correct manner; but for now, I enjoy being able to learn about how globalization is spreading worldwide.
Feel free to ask me about my travels and what I have learned! Right now I am working on my first book on my online blog. Although I have no content posted right now, it is coming soon! My blog is http://www.thegirlwithapassport.com.

I am a senior at the University of Missouri- Columbia, majoring in Digital Storytelling. I am also involved in film production and have written and directed my own short film, with more to come. I am originally from Rolla, MO, which is quite literally a city in the middle of nowhere.
In the Spring of 2017, I studied abroad in London, where I was exposed to a wide variety of cultures and languages. It is estimated that there are more than 100 languages spoken in the global city, so much that I became accustomed to not hearing English wherever I went. I loved living there and seeing so many different people from all over the world.
I want to explore more of this planet and meet more people from different cultures, especially thorough work in the film industry. For me, knowledge and understanding is the best way to bring peace beyond borders.

I am a senior at the University of Missouri at Columbia. I am a Digital Storytelling major with an emphasis in Animation. I also have a lot of experience with the architecture and biology programs (which are my minors). I am from the Windy City, Chicago, IL.
I just recently started to travel outside of the United States to places such as Jamaica and Costa Rica. I really enjoyed being exposed to cultures that are different from my own. Even though I had a great time in those different environments, it was hard to not notice the poverty and hardships that the citizens of those place had to face. This blog was created to bring more awareness to several ideas such as poverty and other struggles that many have to face.
By taking the course “Case Studies in an Inter/Multicultural World,” I plan on enhancing my knowledge on problems that countries in Africa have with poverty and globalization.
